The Elderly Welfare Foundation has expressed its sincere appreciation and gratitude to State Minister for Public Administration, Mr. Md. Abdul Bari, for his commitment to ensuring accountability in connection with the death of an elderly woman who was living alone in Mirpur.

The Foundation believes that this initiative reflects a strong commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, and safety of older persons in Bangladesh. At a time when many elderly individuals face neglect, isolation, abuse, and insecurity, such actions send a powerful message that the welfare and protection of senior citizens must remain a national priority. Abdul Halim, Founder of the Elderly Welfare Foundation, stated, “The steps taken to ensure justice and accountability in this incident demonstrate a compassionate and responsible approach toward older persons. This is an encouraging message for millions of elderly citizens who deserve respect, protection, and equal rights.” He further emphasized that Bangladesh's elderly population is growing rapidly, making it increasingly important to strengthen social protection systems, healthcare services, legal safeguards, and community support for older persons. The Elderly Welfare Foundation hopes that this initiative will contribute to greater awareness about elder protection and inspire further actions to prevent neglect, abuse, and discrimination against older people across the country. The Foundation also calls upon government institutions, civil society organizations, families, and communities to work together in building an age-friendly society where every older person can live with dignity, security, and respect.
